Just A Few Words About Thongs

imagesCA3DF0ABHere we are almost at the end of February, and the humidity is quite overwhelming.  If you are like the majority of Sydneysiders, you are getting around in thongs or no shoes.  From a professional point of view, we are not keen on thongs, but living here makes them a necessity over Summer.

So just a few hints about thongs:

1. Don’t wear badly worn thongs, this is a recipe for disaster. I cannot tell you how many falls we hear about because of worn thongs. Update them regularly like you would your normal shoes.

2. Don’t walk great distances in thongs.  We see quite a few injuries from thong wearing in the clinic over the summer months.  Thongs are built to go down to the beach, or the pool, somewhere where there is water and sand, and you need to cover your feet quickly.  They are not built to walk Miranda Fair all day Saturday.

3. One last hint, your skin dries out very quickly when you wear thongs on a regular basis, so moisturize your feet every night.  Otherwise those painful, unattractive cracked heels start, and are difficult to repair.

So enough of the lecture today, I hope you are keeping cool, and enjoying the last days of summer.

We have HICAPS available in our clinic, which means that our patients can claim from their private health fund straight away
